In all Didion thanks Yellin for various kindnesses, and in one she mentions stories she will be sending soon (1978). Includes
one note to Yellin, dated February 14, 1992, from her husband John Gregory Dunne saying that Didion will have more stories
soon.

Joan Didion was born on December 5, 1934 in Sacramento, California. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley
in 1956. After college she worked for Vogue in New York where she met her husband John Gregory Dunne, and completed her first
novel, "Run, River." She went on to publish more novels, as well as memoirs, literary magazine articles, and screenplays which
are most famous for their attention to sentence structure and powerful themes. In 2005 she was awarded the National Award
for Nonfiction, in 2007 the National Book Foundation's annual Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, in
2009 and 2011 respectively honorary degrees from Harvard and Yale Universities, and in 2001 the National Medals of Arts and
Humanities presented by President Barack Obama.
Herbert Yellin was born on January 24, 1935 in Malden, Massachusetts. He served in the United States Navy as Yeoman First
Class. In 1960 he moved to California and lived most of his life in the San Fernando Valley. He was married to Patricia Ann
from 1960 until her death in 1994. Yellin was a book publisher and founded Lord John Press in 1978. He died on June 13, 2014
in Porter Ranch, California.
John Gregory Dunne was born on May 25, 1932 in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Princeton University in 1954. He met
Joan Didion in New York in the 1950s, and they married at California's Mission San Juan Bautista on January 30, 1964. In 1966,
he and Didion adopted a baby girl at birth, and named her Quintana Roo. The couple often worked together on articles and assignments,
and collaborated in writing and editing efforts. Dunne wrote both fiction and non-fiction books, articles, screenplays, literary
critcism, and essays. He died in Manhattan, New York of a heart attack on December 30, 2003, and his final novel was published
posthumously in 2004.
